We can't wait to hear from you!
What happens next?
1. Application form - deadline: TBC
Please complete our short application form to highlight why you want to take part in one of our projects. This form help us to understand your motivations and any relevant experience you feel you can bring to the team. 2. Informal interviews You'll also be invited to complete a competency based, short interview with two committee members of BVDA to explore whether or not you are a good match for BVDA and us for you! The atmosphere is very relaxed - wear what you feel comfortable in and treat it as a way to get to know us better. |
3. Selection Evening
You may be asked to attend one of the selection evenings after Christmas. This is an informal and fun evening of tasks and games so that we can observe you working in a team environment, and will give you an insight into the kind of challenges that you could face on project.
4. Selection
We'll let you know after interviews and activity evenings whether or not you've been successful, and at this stage we'll also inform you of your project allocation.
5. Pay admin fee and deposit
After to have been confirmed as a volunteer we will ask you to pay a fee of £50 (£30 admin fee and £20 deposit) to confirm your commitment
6. Training and fundraising
Having successfully made it onto a project as a BVDA volunteer you'll meet your project group and start your training and fundraising journey.
7. Departure
After all of that preparation and anticipation your project will finally begin! The project will be roughly 4-5 weeks long and will start in early August.
BVDA supports you throughout. A member of the committee will be on hand to deal with any questions, problems, or just to hear about your experiences! We engage in a full evaluation process once you return so that we can hear about your experiences and continually improve BVDA as a charity and student society.
8. Stay involved after project
We hope you'll have a fantastic time away on project and want to stay involved when you return. Before you leave, BVDA will be filling its committee roles for the following academic year. Make sure you talk to the committee about all the different opportunities you can get involved in and how you can be part of the team delivering international development projects for other students and communities around the world.
