Fundraising Support

Fundraising target

Currently, the fundraising target to take part in an international development project is around £800 for each individual. Volunteers must reach this target before they go away.

But fear not - there is a committee member dedicated to helping you fundraise and every volunteer last year reached above this with one volunteer managing to fundraise a phenomenal £2000!

Where does the money go?
  • All the money fundraised in the name of BVDA goes to our project partners to fund vital international development projects.
  • The money can be spent on building materials, teaching equipment, basic food and accommodation and sometimes includes a donation to the charities we work with.
  • The money cannot be spent on your personal costs such as flights, injections, travel before or after the project, or visas.
Ideas for fundraising include:
  • Fundraising pages for donations from family and friends.
  • Sponsored walks or runs.
  • Club or band nights.
  • Street collections.
  • Bag packing.
  • Themed dinner.
  • Bake sales.
  • Applying for grants from rotary clubs and businesses.

Deposits and Admin Costs

Picture
As you can imagine, funding a project like this is a big responsibility. To ensure we are able to meet the project costs prior to fundraising we ask volunteers to provide a £295 deposit. This is collected in two instalments throughout the year. Your deposit will be fully refunded providing you reach the fundraising target.

We feel it is important that those donating money to BVDA can rest assured it goes directly to the cost of the project. As a result, we ask all volunteers to contribute a £30 admin fee to the charity. This covers training materials, publicity and the general day-to-day running of BVDA.
